About
Teknopark Istanbul was founded in 1987 by the decision of the Defense Industry Executive Committee in order to increase Turkey's technology development capacity, and was officially established in 2010. Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), Airport Management and Aviation Industries Inc. (HEAŞ), Defense Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. Continuing its activities under the founding partnership of (STM) and Istanbul Commerce University, Teknopark Istanbul is today one of the largest technology development regions in Turkey with its campus structure consisting of three phases. Today, approximately 2.5 million m2 of the 13 million m2 expropriated area has been allocated to Teknopark Istanbul. This technology base, which supports high value-added studies, aims to create a competitive, sustainable and innovative ecosystem at national and international levels; It has become a leading center that encourages entrepreneurship and innovation by transforming scientific knowledge and technology into products.
Especially in the defense industry sector, with more than 500 R&D companies, more than 10,000 R&D engineers, more than 3,600 active projects, 589 million dollars of technology exports and more than 300 supported start-ups; It hosts companies specializing in fields such as transportation, energy, advanced materials, optronics, mechatronics & sensors, antenna, cyber security, artificial intelligence, life sciences and biotechnology. This strong ecosystem, which includes Türkiye's leading defense industry organizations such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TAI, KORDSA, YONGATEK, supports the joint development of both major industrial players and innovative enterprises. The existence of these companies shows that Teknopark Istanbul plays an important role both in the development of critical technologies for national security and in meeting high-tech initiatives with the right stakeholders.
Cube Incubation, located within Teknopark Istanbul, supports entrepreneurship and innovation by providing incubation, acceleration and laboratory infrastructure to early stage technology startups. Located within Cube Incubation; Many opportunities and supports are provided, such as 24/7 Open Modern Workspaces, Training and Events, Mentoring, Consultancy and Technical Consultancy, Enterprise Analysis and Technical Analyzes, National and International Investor and Company Meetings, Assembly Workshop, Dark Room, Laboratory and Clean Rooms, Cyber Security Laboratory, Server Room, Showroom Area Use, Library Use, Technopark Taxes and Advantages. Teknopark does not limit entrepreneurship and innovation only to the central campus, but also hosts it with its centers located in Istanbul, Ümraniye and Beyoğlu.
These centers increase access and collaboration opportunities by providing support, especially to early stage entrepreneurs, close to the city center. Cube Incubation, one of Turkey's most comprehensive incubation and entrepreneurship support centers, hosts more than 190 technology startups today. Some of these initiatives have succeeded in taking part in the Turcorn 100 Program carried out under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey.
RS Research, Navlungo, Techsing, Yongatek and Bottomo are among the high-potential technology companies that have grown with the support offered by Teknopark Istanbul and are included in this program. Teknopark Istanbul TTO, one of the first technology transfer offices not affiliated with any university, with its industry and entrepreneurship focused structure; It provides services in areas such as cooperation development, project development, industrial property rights, cluster supports, and is supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1601 program. Teknopark Istanbul is not only one of Turkey's largest technology development zones; It has also achieved many successes with its high-quality R&D environment, entrepreneurship supports and international connections.
