Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "WeLion New Energy") is a solid-state battery industry-university-research incubation enterprise of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was established in 2016 and is located in Fangshan District, Beijing. The company mainly operates solid-state lithium-ion batteries and integrates R&D, production, marketing and sales. It is a national-level "Specialized, refined, distinctive and Innovative" small and medium-sized enterprise and a unicorn enterprise. With CNAS qualifications and over 40 years of research experience in the solid-state battery industry, it has achieved "firsts" in multiple solid-state lithium battery technology fields.
The company was jointly initiated and founded by Chen Liquan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Li Hong, a researcher at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Yu Huigen, a professor-level senior engineer. It has gathered top-notch talents in the fields of battery materials, cells, and systems, with over 1,200 employees.
The company has a complete industrial chain layout and production capacity planning. Currently, it has 7 major bases: Fangshan, Beijing; Liyang, Jiangsu; Zibo, Shandong; Huzhou, Zhejiang; Shaoxing, Zhejiang; Shenzhen, Guangdong; Zhuhai, Guangdong. The main application fields of the product cover three major parts: new energy vehicles, energy storage, and low-altitude economic power.

1) 320~350Wh/kg high energy density low-altitude economic power battery cells: Currently, it has been supplied to many domestic and foreign customers for drone,unmanned aerial vehicles, robots, portable power supplies, etc.
2) 360Wh/kg high energy density power battery cell: It features an extremely high energy density, with a single-charge range exceeding 1000km. It has been mass-produced and delivered to NIO vehicles by the end of 2023 and has received orders from several well-known vehicle manufacturers.
3) 280Ah/314Ah ultra-high safety energy storage cells: They have been mass-produced and delivered in the second half of 2023, supplying multiple energy storage projects such as China Three Gorges, Haibo Sichuang, and State Power Investment Corporation.
