TÜBİTAK, founded in 1963, is an innovative, leading, participatory and sharing institution that serves to increase the quality of life of our society in the fields of science and technology and that contributes to the sustainable development of our society. TÜBİTAK, which carries out all its activities with determination under the guidance of science and technology, progressively supports the development and production of especially technology-based products.

INFORMATICS AND INFORMATION SECURITY RESEARCH CENTER  |  BİLGEM

As Türkiye's biggest R&D centre, BİLGEM carries out technological R&D studies that ensure the security, integrity, secure transmission and storage of military and civilian information in order to ensure our country's technological independence in the field of information security and informatics. With more than 50 years of knowledge, experience and more than 2,000 human resources, our Centre conducts scientific and technological research at international standards.
The main activities of BİLGEM are Research and Development, Test and Evaluation, Prototype Production and Training. The Center has institutes that have carried out hundreds of successful projects in the fields of advanced electronics, information technologies, cryptology, cyber security, software technologies, information security, electronic warfare and telecommunications. These institutes are as follows:

In addition, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM acts on the principle of providing customized solutions to meet stakeholder requirements, rather than providing uniform solutions to meet the IT and information security needs of our country. The technological solutions developed by BİLGEM are used by NATO countries and many European and Asian countries. Thanks to these contributions of our Center, our country has become a country that exports solutions in the fields of informatics and information security and competes with the world giants.

MARMARA RESEARCH CENTER  |  MAM

Since its establishment in 1972, TÜBİTAK MARMARA RESEARCH CENTER (MAM) performs its operations in “TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus” in the City of Kocaeli. The Center aims at becoming a world leader in science and technology production with its research, development and innovation capabilities widely shared by its Energy Technologies, Climate and Life Sciences and Materials and Process Technologies. TÜBİTAK MAM is one of the leading organizations of the advanced technology world thanks to its ability and capacity of research, research infrastructure and world class administrative and operational process management. DEFENSE INDUSTRIES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE  |  SAGE

TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE), specialized in the design, development, production and testing of guided and unguided munition systems, critical subsystems and strategic system platforms to meet the needs of Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and national/international defense industry organizations, is Turkey's leading R&D institution. TÜBİTAK SAGE is empowering its knowledge by research projects, designing and developing software&hardware by development projects, providing services by analysis/measurement and consultancy projects and establishing the infrastructures which are required by the high-tech products and services. Turkey's first national cruise missile SOM and the first national air-to-air missiles GÖKDOĞAN and BOZDOĞAN are developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE.

SPACE TECHNOLOGIES RESEARCH INSTITUTE  |  UZAY

TÜBİTAK UZAY is the leading research and development entity in Türkiye in the field of rapidly developing space technologies and applications. With its impressive heritage portfolio, UZAY develops subsystems and application projects such as communication systems, stargazers and flight computers, as well as turnkey operational satellite systems.

The product portfolio of TÜBİTAK UZAY includes BİLSAT, RASAT, GÖKTÜRK-2 and İMECE satellites that have successfully served our country in the field of earth observation since 2001. Two operational Earth observation satellites, GÖKTÜRK-2 and İMECE consist of subsystems and components, whose design, production and integration processes were carried out in-house.

The most important proof of the reliability of these subsystems and the relevant AIT processes (production, integration and testing) used in their development is the RASAT satellite, which has recently completed its service life and was retired. The RASAT satellite, which had a design life of three years, was successfully operated for an impressive 11 years period.

Our latest significant success, TÜRKSAT 6A, the first indigenously-developed national telecommunications satellite of Türkiye, was launched to space and placed into geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) in July 2024.

In addition to these achievements, TÜBİTAK UZAY is also at the epicenter of cooperation and collaboration efforts both at national and international level in areas such as technology transfer, AIT services, space applications and consultancy.

NATIONAL ACADEMIC NETWORK AND INFORMATION CENTER  |  ULAKBİM

The Turkish Academic Network and Information Centre (ULAKBIM) was founded as an institute of TÜBİTAK in 1996. ULAKBIM’s main objectives have been set as operating a high speed computer network enabling interaction within the research and education elements of the national innovation system, and providing information technology and library and information services to the research community in Turkey. ULAKBIM aims at providing IT facilities such as computer networks, high performance compute and storage solutions, data and cloud services, and library and information services, to meet the needs of universities and research institutions, and to increase the efficiency and productivity of their users. ULAKBIM consists of National Academic Network (ULAKNET) Unit, which operations national research and education network in Turkey, Cahit Arf Information Center, which provides information and document supply services nationwide and educational technologies department which provides open source IT solutions for middle and high schools.
