In 2008, the "Gelişim Education, Culture, Health, and Social Services Foundation" initiated the establishment of a vocational college named "İstanbul Gelişim Vocational College." On June 14, 2008, the foundation launched its vocational college, approved by the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Ministers, thereby commencing its educational activities.
IGU, which advocates that higher education is the most important tool for sustainable development, today offers its national and international students: 7 faculties, 1 college, 2 vocational schools, 85 undergraduate, 68 associate degree regular education programs, 33 associate degree second education programs, 41 thesis-based / 39 non-thesis graduate programs, and 11 doctoral programs under the Graduate Education Institute. Collaborating with over 130 universities worldwide, Istanbul Gelişim University also motivates its associate degree, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to become international.
Established on February 17, 2011, by Law No. 6114, Istanbul Gelişim University was founded with the goal of becoming a "world university" in the 2025-2026 academic year, with 7 faculties, a Graduate School, 1 college, and 2 vocational schools. With its solid steps toward becoming a globally influential university, Istanbul Gelişim University continues to grow each year and is one of the most preferred universities among Turkey's foundation universities.
Istanbul Gelişim University, which collaborates with leading organizations in its field to achieve global success and attaches great importance to internationalization, has had its 40 programs thoroughly reviewed and accredited by international committees appointed by German, British, and American accreditation organizations such as AQAS, AHPGS, and ABET. Achieving the distinction of being Turkey's most accredited university, Istanbul Gelişim University has also attracted worldwide attention with its steps towards internationalization.
Located in Istanbul, the financial and commercial center of Turkey and the world, Istanbul Gelişim University offers its students a huge research complex consisting of 150 laboratories. It also has 22 research centers and 76 student clubs that enable students to engage in social, cultural, scientific, and sporting activities outside of class. We look forward to collaborating with our external stakeholders within the rapidly growing and evolving dynamic structure of our university.
